විදුලි පණිවුඩ සේවය අවසන් End of Telegram service

දුරකථන, ජංගම දුරකථන ඇතුළු නව තාක්ෂණයේ ආගමනය සමඟම සන්නිවේදන පහසුකම් වැඩි දියුණු වීමත් සමඟම විදුලි පණිවුඩ භාවිතය පහල වැටීම මෙන්ම විදුලි පණිවුඩ යැවීම පිණිස ඉතා විශාල මුදලක් වැයවීමත් හේතුවෙන් මෙම තීන්දුවට එළැඹුණු බවයි, තැපැල්පති රෝහණ අබේරත්න මහතා ප්‍රකාශකර සිටියේ.
විදුලි පණිවුඩ සේවය, මීට දශක ගණනාවකට ඉහතදී බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය පාලනය යටතේ පිහිටවනු ලැබූවක්
"විදුලි පණිවුඩයක් යැවීම සඳහා රුපියල් දෙසිය හතලිහක පමණ වියදමක් දරන්න වෙනවා. ඒ සඳහා අය කිරීම වෙන්නේ රුපියල් තුනක්," යනුවෙන් ද ඔහු පැවසීය.

ගතව ගිය මාසයේ පමණක් විදුලි පණිවුඩ ලක්ෂ එක් ලක්ෂ පන්ස දහසක් පමණ යවා තිබෙන නමුත් එය සාපේක්ෂව විශාල පහල වැටීමක් බවයි, ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ.

එක් දහස් හත් සියයක පමණ පිරිසක් පණිවුඩකරුවන් ලෙසින් විදුලි පණිවුඩ බෙදා හැරීමේ නිරතව සිටි අතර ඔවුන්ගේ සේවය වඩාත් ඵලදායී ලෙසින් යොදා ගැනීමත් විදුලි පණිවුඩ බෙදා හැරීම නවත්වා දැමීමේ තවත් අරමුණක්.

The Sri Lankan government plans to stop the telegram service in the country from the end of October.

Telecommunication & Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said the service would be discontinued from October 31st.

Postal Ministry Secretary Hemasiri Fernando has earlier said that transmitting telegrams through a network of postal messengers across the country was too expensive.

According to him, telegrams while being too expensive have competition from e-mail, courier and short message services on mobile phones.

The Telecommunication & Information Technology Ministry says that only an average of about 50 telegrams are being sent on a daily basis.
